ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
When a patient is lying on a standard overlay pad, it may be difficult to turn them onto their side. The Vented Overlay Turning Pad has a breathable slippery base and turning loops that can be used to turn a person by hand, or with a hoist for heavier people.
The Pad is slightly wider than a bed, so when a person is lying on their side, they will still be supported. Inside the Pad is a specialised 20mm foam sheet with ventilation holes that allow air to flow through. It is large enough to allow the hips and shoulders to rest on the pad, and to extend across the bed so that Body Brackets, and Wedges can be positioned underneath it.
IMPORTANT: Before using the Vented Overlay Turning Pad, it is necessary to have a Sleep System Positioning Sheet fitted to the bed. This receptor sheet is made of a material that the Hook Tape on positioning devices such as Body Brackets, and Wedges can attach to. A breathable material Slide Pad is included with the Overlay Pad that should be attached to the middle of the Positioning Sheet. Click here to order.ย
WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT?
Suitable for people who need assistance to turn onto their side for placement of bed positioning items.
HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT
The Vented Overlay Turning Pad is placed on top of the Positioning Sheet with the patients shoulders and hips located near the turning straps.
The Large size can go under the head down to the feet. The Small size goes under the shoulders to the hip.
When turning a patient, depending on their weight, this can be done by hand, or by attaching the hoist straps to a hoist to assist the turn.
If using the Overlay Pad with the Sleep System Positioning Sheet and Body Brackets or Wedges, gently tilt the patient to one side to apply the brackets/wedges, then tilt them to the other side to position them on the opposite side.
We recommend the patient wear a incontinence pants and if possible, use one or more thin, breathable Incontinence Bed Pad – Washable to help prevent the Turning Pad getting soiled.
