ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

The Sit, Slide & Stand Pad is designed to assist with seated positioning. It allows movement in one direction while resisting forward sliding in the other, helping the user maintain a safe seated position.

This enables a user to sit towards the front of a chair, slide back into an appropriate seating position, and remain stable without continuing to slide forward.

WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT?

Suitable for people who are at risk of sliding forward in a chair.

HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT

Place the pad on the seat or wheelchair with the arrows facing towards the back of the chair. Lift slightly and position approximately 5 inches forward.

The user should sit towards the front of the chair. They may then slide back independently, or a carer may assist using the blue webbing straps to reposition the patientโ€™s pelvis.

Two carers may also assist from either side of the chair if required.

PRODUCT MATERIALS

Velvet-type material, latex-free grey non-slip material, nylon, webbing.

WARNINGS

This product is not designed to assist users who lean forward; it is intended only for those who slide forward.

Ensure compatibility with pressure care cushions prior to use. It can generally be used on top of pressure care cushions.

Consult your Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Back Care Specialist when using Manual Handling Products.

This product is to help with the prevention of pressure sores. Sometimes, due to the patient deteriorating, the product may become unsuitable. Continuous monitoring is necessary and alternative products may be recommended.

General Manual Handling Warning:ย Manual Handling products are designed to assist carers to help patients. They will not make the carer stronger or fitter, but with correct training and use of the products, should make manual handling easier and safer for both staff and patients. When training, practise with an able-bodied colleague. If any procedure is not comfortable or is difficult and puts the carer or patient in a dangerous position, the participants should call out to stop the manoeuvre, recover and recommence. Never jeopardise your health by straining, twisting or being incorrectly positioned when manual handling. Always select the most appropriate equipment for the patientโ€™s current condition and if in doubt, use mechanical equipment. Ask your Manual Handling adviser for individual guidance.
