WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

The Leg Abductor – Foot to Knee can be used when sitting in a chair or lying in bed.

WHO IS THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR?

Useful for patients who are contracting and crossing their legs. Also used to abduct the legs after a broken tip of femur or after a hip operation.

BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The cover has soft cotton webbing with Hook & Loop Tape fasteners to secure the legs to the Abductor. For some patients who have very delicate skin, put some combine padding around the legs to protect them. Monitor the patient’s skin for pressure sores, particularly around the inside of the knees.

Some patients may get cramps if they sit for long periods and cannot move their legs. Refer to their care plan regarding ambulation. It may also be advisable to use a Pelican Chair Belt to remind the patient not to stand up when the abductor is in use.

CLEANING METHOD – STANDARD VERSION

Foam: Remove the foam and rinse in water.
Cover: Machine or hand wash the cover.

MAXIMUM WASHING TEMPERATURE

Foam: Warm.
Cover: 80°C / 176°F.

DETERGENT

Use a mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener.

DRYING METHOD

Foam: Air dry in the shade.
Cover: Air dry in the shade. Alternatively, tumble dry on a cool temperature and make sure the drum is cool.

CLEANING WARNING

Only use and store the product when it is dry.
