ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Doorway Floor Strips are designed to help prevent some people with dementia from entering or leaving a room. Some people with dementia may not step onto a black area on the floor.
The product is supplied in a pack containing the following components, and you can use whichever fixing method is suitable for your floor surface:
- 3 thin black non-slip rubber strips, each 90cm / 35.5″ long
- 3 lengths of sticky-backed hook & loop tape for fixing to carpeted floors
- 3 lengths of double-sided sticky dots for fixing to hard floor surfaces such as wood or tiles
The Doorway Floor Strips product may be considered a form of restraint, so seek approval if necessary.
Because dementia care is a complex area, we cannot guarantee this product will work for everyone. Click here to see research on the use of black strips on the floor for people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT?
The Doorway Floor Strips are suitable for use as a visual cue to discourage some people from stepping over or into a restricted area, helping to prevent them from entering a different room.
HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT
Fold back the loop tape from the hook tape at both ends. Remove the hook & loop dot and stick them on each side of the door frame at approximately shoulder height. Fold back the loop tape and place the hook section onto the hook & loop dot on the door frame. When using on narrower doorways, the hook & loop tape dots that are stuck to the doorway can be positioned higher up the frame so the webbing loops down to waist level. Adding twists in the webbing may make it more noticeable to some users.
PRODUCT MATERIALS
