    ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Having to hold a patientโ€™s leg or foot when they are sitting in a chair or on the side of a bed can be a heavy manual handling task for a carer putting on compression stockings, treating wounds, bandaging, etc. By using the Portable Leg/Foot Support, a leg can be held in place at different heights while the carer treats the patient. The Support may also be a useful aid for podiatrists during foot examinations.

    • 4 height settings – suitable for patients who cannot lift their legs high
    • The 1.25kg Frame is made from a strong but lightweight plastic that can be wiped clean. The Frame comes with one free Sling.
    • The Frame packs flat in a specially made bag for easy transport.
    • Single Patient Use Slings made from durable vinyl material. The bright yellow color makes it easy to see any contamination on the Sling.
    • The Slings can be wiped clean and left at a patientโ€™s home for infection control. Carers may even like to write the patientโ€™s name on their Sling.

    WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT?

This product is suitable for people who need to lift or hold a leg in the air.

For example, this may be a community nurse who needs to bandage a person’s leg.

    HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT

Open the middle section of the Frame 90ยฐ and slot it down onto the lower section. Tighten down the clear plastic nut to keep the base of the Frame stable whilst in use. Attach the Sling to the appropriate hooks on the uprights, so it will be the correct height to be comfortable for the patient.

Once assembled, place the Support under the patientโ€™s leg or foot. The Sling can easily be repositioned to different parts of the leg while in use.

See the video below for a demonstration of various ways the Sling can be placed underneath a patient’s leg. We recommend using a Kneeling Support (sold separately) as an OH&S product when using the Portable Leg/Foot Support, as it makes it easier to kneel and stand up again.

When the task is completed, the base of the Frame can then be returned to the flat position. Tighten down the clear plastic nut to stop the base from swiveling open while being carried.

    CLEANING WARNING

Only use and store the product when it is dry. Test your cleaning chemicals o
n a discreet area to make sure it will not damage the material.

Note: The end of the slots in Sling may curl during use, and some internal ripstop reinforcing threads might fray. When tested with a weight of 82.8lbs, some threads broke after 20 minutes, but the ripstop threads prevented further tearing. Distortion at the ends of the Sling slots is normal and acceptable.

The HDPE plastic frame may bend, but will not break. The outer surface may mark easily and may look secondhand when new, but the advantages of using this material outweigh the disadvantages.
