ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Hand/Head Patient Assist Alarm is a thin pad (sometimes called a paddle), approximately 14cm x 9cm x 0.8cm / 5.51โณ ร 3.54โณ ร 0.31โณ – thin enough to be placed under the patientโs hand so they can activate an alarm for assistance. It can also be placed close to the patientโs head. It may also be possible to use the Alarm underneath other parts of the body, like a heel, elbow, etc.
The Hand/Head Patient Assist Alarm can be plugged into an Alarm Box, or it can plug directly into a hospital Nurse Call System. By using the Double Adaptor provided, a normal Nurse Call Button can also be plugged in for use by other people.
An Arm Rest Sleeve with non-slip material underneath and a strap to secure the Hand/Head Patient Assist Alarm to a wheelchair armrest is available separately.
WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT?
Designed for people such as spinal injury or burns patients who cannot move to activate a Nurse Call Button. It may also help non-verbal stroke patients.
HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT
- Place the Alarm under the patientโs hand so if they roll their hand and press down a little with the fatty part of the thumb or behind the little finger, they can call for assistance
- Alternatively, the Alarm can be placed next to the head so if they roll their head a little, they can call for assistance. Experiment with the Alarm on either side of their head to get the correct position.
- It may be necessary to experiment with the position to ensure the patient can activate the Alarm. Always test the Alarm with the patient after setting up so that they understand how to use it.
- If the cord is tucked under a mattress, ensure it will not get tangled in the mechanism when the bed or head rest is raised or lowered.
