ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
The Wool Wheelchair Pad is a low-profile wool cushion for a chair or wheelchair. It helps provide pressure care and comfort without adding significant height.
It will fit chairs between 40cm / 15.7″ and 50cm / 19.7″ wide and can be used as a seat pad or backrest. Two separate pads can be used together, with one on the seat and the other on the back of a chair if desired. The pad is made from pure sheep’s wool attached to a breathable synthetic backing which, unlike sheepskin, can be washed with minimal shrinkage. This wool has been specially treated for use in medical products and helps manage perspiration.
There is a layer of foam inside the Wool Wheelchair Pad to provide additional cushioning. The pad has an opening to allow the foam to be removed for cleaning. The foam provides a comfortable thickness, although thicker foam and convoluted foam are available on request. The pad can also be used without the foam inside, depending on the person’s individual pressure care requirements.
When a patient leans too far back in a chair, it can increase pressure on the coccyx area and may also affect breathing. This can be a particular issue for people with shorter legs. Using the Wool Wheelchair Pad with the foam inside as a backrest can help people sit more upright, improving pressure care, posture, and breathing.
