WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?

The Stand Up Doorway Alarm is a patient monitoring alarm that is used to help carers know when someone has stood on the mat.

It may be used to monitor several people in a lounge room. If used in the bathroom, the person can freely walk around in the room to their ensuite etc, but the alarm will only sound if they leave the room.

The alarm mat is 30″ x 26″. On the top is a wipeable lino material, and underneath is miracle grip material to help the Alarm stay in position.

There are two options with regard to the Alarm alerting Carers:

  • Sounding Alarm Box – An Alarm Box which makes a sound
  • Nurse Call Plug – This plugs into the nurse call system and sets off the Carers’ pagers

The Sounding Alarm Box has variable volumes. The Nurse Call version plugs into the nurse call system and comes with a double adapter. This allows for a normal nurse call button to still be used in conjunction with the alarm. Both options come with a 16′ cable.

Also available is a 32′ Extension Cord. Extension cords can be linked together so that the alarm box can be placed virtually anywhere. Most facilities keep the alarm box in the corridor, but some have wired it through the ceiling, across other rooms to the nurses’ station.

Inside the mat are the Contact Sheets, which is the part which triggers the alarm. Over time, the Contact Sheets can wear down and will need to be replaced. We supply spare internal Contact Sheets, which means you no not need to purchase a brand new product when they wear out.

We recommend buying spare Contact Sheets with your order. Click here to view the video showing how to change the Stand Up Floor Alarm Contact Sheets.

Warning: When using a double adaptor, if the Patient’s Nurse Call button is removed from the adaptor, then the automatic Nurse Call system may not alert staff. There may be occasions when the facility does not want the patient to have a Nurse Call button as they may have dementia and be pushing the button for no reason. We understand that the Patients should always have access to a Nurse Call button, so if this is removed, we recommend documenting this in their care plan. If the Patient’s Nurse Call button is removed then the Pelican Stand Up Alarm can be plugged directly into the wall socket without using the double adaptor.

Warning: Choking Hazard. The Sounding Alarm Box and Nurse Call plug includes a small component as part of the design. This product may not be suitable for an individual who has a tendency to place inedible objects in their mouth.
